Rarely do I take the time to leave a review, but in this case it felt necessary. I started reaching out to a few hair restoration clinics about four years ago, including We Grow Hair Indy. I've had very fine hair my whole life, and at this point almost all of the hair on my crown is long gone, and much of the hair in the bridge area was gone too. Based on my own research, I didn't think I was a great candidate for a transplant that would cover all of my balding area, and if it did, I thought it would look like a wispy mess.
Unlike two other clinics that promised 7,000+ grafts based on pictures and aggressively pushed hard for deposits (via "limited-time discounts") before I could even meet with a surgeon, Darren at We Grow Hair Indy looked at my head in person, consulted with his staff, and gave it to me straight. Due to the thin, fine hair in my donor area, I wasn't a good candidate for an FUT transplant, as I suspected — my donor area was too thin and sparse. But Darren worked with me over the next few years to explore options. We started with a few treatments and standard meds to build up what I had, and improvement followed. My donor area thickened some, and more importantly, my bridge area bounced back a bit. I still had a horseshoe balding pattern going, but it wasn't as bad.
We got to a point where we'd reached the limit of improvement with those methods, and I still wasn't a good candidate for an FUT transplant. At this point I was thinking I'd either have to shave my head or adjust my goal. I asked Darren about doing an FUE instead of FUT, using the follicles from that procedure to reframe my face and get rid of the horseshoe balding pattern — also allowing for no scar in the back so I could keep my thin, wispy hair fairly short. He again consulted with his surgeon, Dr. Contractor, who came into the room to look at my head directly. Dr. Contractor listened to my goals, clearly deliberated on what was possible, and agreed to do it.
I wasn't promised a lot of coverage — maybe 1,250 grafts — but it was enough to give me a hairline that looked natural. Fortunately, Dr. Contractor ended up finding 2,022 grafts, creating a transplant result that went further back on my head than originally anticipated. I'm on day 3 of recovery, but I can already tell that the result is going to be beyond my expectations. Dr. Contractor and his team worked some magic I didn't think was possible. The procedure was fairly painless too.
Overall, the process with We Grow Hair Indy has been one of the best consumer experiences of my life. They're collaborative, professional, and clearly good at getting results. Most importantly, Darren and team might be the most honest people I've ever handed money to, and they're not aggressive about getting money out of your hand in the slightest. I highly recommend them to anyone else looking to improve their hairline.
