Answering Hair Transplant FAQs

Answering Hair Transplant FAQs Crate Paul Rick

If you’re considering a hair transplant, you’ve probably done at least a little research. After all, there’s plenty of information online about your options and the results.

But before you get a transplant, it’s important to know what to actually expect. Our team will work to prepare you for your individual procedure, but here we’ve answered a few frequently asked questions to get you started:

Is transplanted hair permanent?

Yes. Transplanted hair is permanent.

How does this work? The hair on the back and sides of a man’s head is permanent, and cannot be affected by DHT (the hormone that causes male pattern baldness). We transplant that permanent hair to the crown or hairline. That means new growth will be permanent and unaffected by DHT.

What is the transplant healing process like?

The healing process is slightly different for everyone, however most people have similar post-transplant experiences. The first 10 days require more rest and care, although you can return to work after just 2 days if you are able to limit strenuous activities.

After 10 days, Multi-Unit Hair Grafting clients will have their suture removed. They can begin doing all normal activities 48 hours after this.

After your procedure, you will receive detailed instructions for each step of the initial healing process. Our staff will be available every step of the way to address any questions or concerns you may have.

What will I look like after my procedure?

If you had a Multi-Unit Hair Grafting transplant, the healing process takes a few weeks. However, after 48 hours you are able to wear a loose baseball cap to cover the area until healing has occurred. We also recommend you keep your hair slightly longer until your suture line heals. If you have an ARTAS Robotic FUE transplant, you will have a very mild healing process with minimal disruptions to your daily activity. Check out our client Josh just 11 days after his ARTAS procedure:

How soon can I go back to work?

You are able to return to work after just 2 days. For Multi-Unit Hair Grafting clients, no strenuous activity or exercise is allowed until 48 hours after the suture removal.

How long will it take to see results?

For the first few months, the transplanted hair is in telogen, or a resting state. Most clients begin to see growth at 3 or 4 months after their transplant. They often achieve their full results between 8 and 12 months, depending on what other modalities they may be using to enhance their growth.

How much does a hair transplant cost?
The average cost of a hair transplant is between $6,000 and $16,000. To make this more affordable for our clients, we offer financing options. Hear more about pricing from Clinic Director Darren Andrews:
